Boats and trailers are too big for a parcel service, so they travel by scheduled LTL freight. Delivery within the United States is free. Here is exactly how it works, so nothing on delivery day is a surprise.
1. After you order
We book freight and confirm your expected delivery window in writing. If access to your address is tight — a narrow street, a steep driveway, a gated community, no room for a large truck to turn — tell us before we book. We can arrange an alternative such as a different delivery address or pickup at the carrier's local terminal.
2. Scheduling
The carrier will typically call ahead to arrange a delivery appointment. Someone 18 or older needs to be present to receive and sign for the unit. Freight cannot be delivered to a PO box.
3. Plan for unloading
Have room for the truck to park and space to unload safely. Two adults can handle a 12 ft boat. For a trailer, have your tow vehicle ready so you can hitch up and roll it off. If you need the driver to use a liftgate or you have any unloading concerns, ask us when you order.
4. Inspect before you sign
This is the step that protects you. While the driver is still there:
- Walk all the way around the unit. Check the hull, transom, bunks, fenders, lights and coupler.
- Count the pieces against the paperwork.
- If you see anything — a dent, a gouge, a bent bracket, torn packaging — write it on the delivery receipt before you sign, and photograph it.
- Then sign. Noting damage does not delay your delivery; it just preserves your claim.
A clean signature tells the carrier the shipment arrived perfect, which makes a later claim much harder for both of us.
5. If something is wrong
Email support@blackseriesmarine.com or call (833) 822-6737 the same day, with your photos and the noted receipt. We file the carrier claim on your behalf and resolve it at no cost to you — repair, replacement parts, or a replacement unit. If you discover concealed damage after the driver leaves, unpack and photograph it right away and contact us as soon as you can.
6. Minor marks are normal
Aluminum shows handling. Small scuffs on a bare-aluminum hull or trailer frame are cosmetic and do not affect strength or your warranty. Structural damage — a creased hull, a bent frame, a damaged axle — is not normal and is exactly what the inspection step is for.
